Bonita Springs is beloved for many a reason. It’s loved for its beaches, for the many gorgeous State Parks just on your doorstep, for the hiking trails, kayaking, and exploration to be had. It’s also loved for just how dog-friendly it can be. However, for those who love nothing more than spending a morning on the green, its the Bonita Springs Golf Courses that are undoubtedly going to be holding your attention.

Royal Shell has a range of vacation rentals that are perfectly positioned for you to enjoy the many public and private Bonita Springs golf courses. Take a look below to get an idea of some of the fantastic golfing experiences awaiting you, as well as the vacation rentals trusted by the Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce to offer the most relaxing golf vacation in Florida you could ask for.

Private Golf Courses in Bonita Springs, Florida

As a community with plenty of prime coastal real estate and gorgeous woodlands and mangroves surrounding, it should be no surprise that there are plenty of private golf courses and country clubs, offering some of the finest holes and fantastic services to ensure you have the best golfing day out possible.

Many of these clubs are, of course, designated for members only. However, with a GolfPass from the PGA South Florida Section, you can enjoy access to a wide range of them at a very affordable price, including group passes that can be bought directly from their South Florida office.

Some of the best private courses, semi-public courses, and country clubs include the following:

  1. The Pelicans Nest Golf Glub at the gated Pelican Landing community, designed by famous golf architect Tom Fazio, has since been won a range of awards, including being ranked one of the top three courses in the US, as named by Golf Digest magazine.
  2. The Colony, an 809-acre acre also inside the Pelican Landing community, a tough 18-hole course amongst gorgeous native grasses and oak hammocks.
  3. Copperleaf, a private golf club developed by the award-winning Bonita Bay Group, with very well-kept fairways and gorgeous greens for 18 holes.
  4. Spanish Wells, a championship golf course that offers three different 18-hole combos amongst gorgeous palms, sprawling oaks, and a wide range of water features.
  5. Spring Run, with six sets of tees for both men and women, as well as a couple’s gold league designed by award-winning architect Gordon Lewis.
  6. Worthington brings 7 sets of tees as well as a championship golf course, from 4600 to 6690 yards, making it very well suited to both beginners and the most expert of golfers.
  7. Bonita National, an 18-hole championship golf course, also designed by Gordon Lewis, with a luxurious 40,000 square foot clubhouse.

All of these courses are available on the GolfPass at the time of writing, but it’s worth checking, as it updates on a regular basis.

Public Golf Courses in Bonita Springs

As well as the private courses mentioned above, there are plenty of public courses that you are well worth visiting, as well. Given that they are public, they tend to be more in demand, especially during peak tourist season, so be sure to keep that in mind. Some of the courses worth taking a closer look at include:

  • Arrowhead Golf Course from Naples Public Golf Club
  • Bonita Fairways from Bonita Springs Public Golf Club
  • Colonial Country Club from Fort Myers Semi-Private Golf Club
  • Cross Creek Country Club from Fort Myers Semi-Private Golf Club
  • Eastwood Golf Course from Fort Myers Public Golf Club
  • Raptor Bay Golf Club from Bonita Springs Public Golf Club

You will notice that some of the courses mentioned above are not strictly in Bonita Springs, but they’re a short trip away from the town. Looking a little further from home might be necessary simply because of the fact that most golf clubs in southwest Florida aren’t open to the public.

Can You Play a Round of Golf by Yourself?

Golf can be enjoyed amongst groups of all sizes, but there’s nothing to say you can go out and enjoy some peace and quiet by yourself on the green. However, it’s important to know that not every golf course will allow you to play by yourself, especially at their peak times.

Some courses may pair you up with another lone player if you book by yourself, or even into a larger group of solo players. If you really want to ensure you have that relaxing solo experience, then it’s best to inquire ahead of time as to whether you will be allowed to golf by yourself.

What Are the Rules for Golf Etiquette?

Golfing is there for you to enjoy, but there are others whose enjoyment may depend on how you handle yourself on the course, as well. Whether you’re with a group, or you simply don’t want to show yourself up to attendees coming after you, here are some rules to keep in mind:

  • Don’t be the slowest player on the green.
  • Repair any ball marks you make, rake bunkers, and replace divots.
  • Pay heed to any rules and regulations set by the club.
  • Let the player furthest away from the pin hit first each time.
  • Control your temper, don’t rage on the green.
  • Be respectful to those about to hit or hitting.
  • Don’t walk across someone’s line when they’re putting.

In general, try to keep your time on the course understated, classy, and casual. Have fun with it, but be respectful of other players and the course/club itself.
